T

he Grammy Awards are the music industry’s largest and most prestigious event, honoring achievements in music and spotlighting the best artists, musicians, songs, albums and more from the past year. As dancers we love music; it’s a vital tool that helps us create movements and tell our stories through dancing. So to celebrate, we’re sharing our top dance-worthy picks that are nominated to win the coveted Gramophones at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards (airing Sunday, Feb. 10th at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST on CBS).

From veteran superstars like the Backstreet Boys to new musicians like Maren Morris and Camila Cabello, check out the nominations that make us want to bust a move!

“The Middle” | Zedd, Maren Morris & Grey

Nomination: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
Why we love it: Ok, we admit it, this song has been stuck in our heads all year long. And we know the lyrics start off as “Take a seat…” but all we want to do is get up and dance once the chorus rolls around! We’re clearly not the only ones—the song broke records on Billboard’s Dance/Electronics Songs chart and they even named it the #1 dance song of 2018.

“Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” | Backstreet Boys

Nomination: Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
Why we love it: Chalk this one up to nostalgia, but you can’t deny that the Backstreet Boys have made a stellar comeback! Not only is this song incredibly catchy, but the music video is filled to the brim with the amazing choreographed dance sequences that these “boys” are known for. And did we mention they’ve been around for over 25 years?! #BoyBands4Ever

“Meant to Be” | Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line

Nomination: Best Country Duo/Group Performance
Why we love it: If you listen to country music, chances are you heard this hit all over the radio last year. It’s a beautiful song that would be an absolutely stunning choice for any contemporary routine or ballroom piece. Fun fact: We’ve also had the opportunity to meet Bebe Rexha multiple times (see here and here), and she is absolutely lovely!

“Girls Like You” | Maroon 5 featuring Cardi B

Nomination: Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
Why we love it: If there is one thing Maroon 5 is known for, it’s well-liked pop songs. Add Cardi B to the mix and you have a chart-topper! In fact, this song reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and spent sixteen weeks on the Radio Songs chart, tying with Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together” for the second longest-leading number one in the chart’s history. As if that’s not impressive enough, the music video features an extensive roster of women that we would be honored to dance alongside!

“Electricity” | Silk City & Dua Lipa Featuring Diplo & Mark Ronson

Nomination: Best Dance Recording
Why we love it: With an all-star team like this, we knew “Electricity” would be a hit! Not only is this track made for dancing, but after seeing Dua Lipa spin and sway around like nobody’s watching in the official music video, we’re inspired to dance along to it too!

“Havana (Live)” | Camila Cabello

Nomination: Best Pop Solo Performance
Why we love it: “Havana, ooh na-na / Half of my heart is on the dance floor, ooh na-na.” Ok, that second line doesn’t contain the real lyrics, but it’s definitely how we feel when this song comes on! With its traditional pop framework, Latin influences and sing-a-long allure, we can’t wait but envision this as the soundtrack to our next salsa routine.
