The Rockettes’ 6 Favorite Videos of First Lady Michelle Obama Dancing

It goes without saying that the First Lady of the United States is no stranger to the dance floor. While President Barack Obama has some smooth dance moves himself, Michelle Obama is known for gettin’ jiggy with it! So in honor of her birthday, here are our six favorite videos of FLOTUS blowing us away with her epic dance moves:

1. Having a Dance-Off With Ellen DeGeneres

We all know that the First Lady is a dancing queen, but add Ellen DeGeneres into the mix and you have yourself a dancing duo! In March 2015, Michelle Obama stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about the fifth anniversary of her “Let’s Move!” campaign, an initiative to raise awareness about active, healthy living. While she was chatting with the talk-show host, FLOTUS revealed that cast members from So You Think You Can Dance would teach a choreographed rendition to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’s hit “Uptown Funk” at the 137th annual White House Easter Egg Roll. Of course, it was only natural for the two to take to the floor for a dance-off to show off some of their synchronized fancy footwork!

2. Showing Off “Mom Moves” With Jimmy Fallon

Two years after FLOTUS dropped by “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and performed “The Evolution of Mom Dancing—Part 1”, the duo teamed up again in April 2015 for the “Part 2” to help promote the First Lady’s “Let’s Move!” campaign and its new #GimmeFive challenge. After seeing their matching pink cardigans, white sneakers and the 14 original dance moves (we loved the “Shush and Tush”), we can’t wait for Jimmy and Michelle Obama’s third installment!

3. Salsa Dancing With Mario Lopez

Once again, Michelle Obama proved that she has rhythm—especially when it comes to the salsa and merengue! Joining forces with Extra‘s Mario Lopez, FLOTUS shared some of her dance moves with little ones at a Zumba class inside an NFL Youth Education Town Center (YET).

4. Giving Beyoncé a Run for Her Money

Making a surprise visit to Washington D.C.’s Alice Deal Middle School in May 2011, the First Lady couldn’t help but show off her go-to classic moves like “The Dougie” (yes, you read that right!) and “The Running Man” as Beyoncé’s “Move Your Body” blared through the loudspeakers.

5. Dancing to Bollywood Tunes Alongside Children

During the Obama’s first visit to India in 2010, all over the world people were going gaga over FLOTUS dancing to Rang De Basanti with 33 orphaned and runaway children from the NGO Make a Difference‘s Mumbai chapter. She’s got moves!

6. Sharing Her First Dance With President Barack Obama

We dare you not to shed a few tears while watching this adorable video! On January 20th, 2009 (Inauguration Day) at the Neighborhood Ball in Washington D.C., President Obama and the First Lady were serenaded with Beyoncé’s rendition of Etta James’ “At Last.” All eyes were on the couple (it was televised live, after all!) as they glided through their inaugural dance as the First Couple.
