Why we chose him: There’s nothing we love more than heart-warming stories, and this one about 15-year-old Amari Hall is giving us all the warm fuzzies!
Born with a congenital heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome, Amari needed a heart transplant as the corrective heart surgeries he had when he was 2-years-old were starting to fail.
Despite being hooked up to tubes and cords and laying in a hospital bed, Amari couldn’t help but celebrate his second chance at life. Just six days after his life-saving open heart surgery, his family turned on some tunes, and Amari busted a move as everyone cheered and clapped him on. Even his nurses joined in the full-on dance party!
“All his life he has been a fighter,” his mom, Juaquinna Hall, tells CNN. “He remained positive throughout it all.”
All together now: Awww! Our hearts are bursting—here’s to speedy recovery, Amari!
Fun fact: Amari’s aunt, Charawn Hunter, posted the video to Facebook back in May (he had his surgery in March!) to help raise awareness about the importance of organ donation.
