Rockettes’ Pick for Dancer of the Week: Stranded Passenger Dancing Through Airport
Who: Mahshid Mazooji
Why we chose her: Asking someone to dance is hard enough. Now try doing it at an airport … at 3 a.m.!
That’s what it came down to for 30-year-old Mahshid Mazooji, who found herself stranded overnight at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport after missing a connecting flight to Denver. But instead of catching some not-so-quality shut-eye slumped over in a chair at a deserted gate, she did what makes her most happy: dance!
With Lionel Richie’s “All Night Long” as her soundtrack, Mahshid travels through the nearly empty airport showing off her stellar moonwalking skills, freshening up at a custodial cart and even making several friends along the way.
She’s joined by a dapper suit-wearing staffer, a trio of gate agents, a perky Starbucks barista, various stranded travelers and a neon-yellow-vest-clad woman who’s got serious moves. It turns out Mahshid isn’t the only one who secretly wishes they could break out in dance in public spaces.
No one likes to miss a flight, but we have to give credit to Mahshid for turning a minor setback into a laughter-filled, body-moving airport dance party!
Fun fact: The airport had a great sense of humor about Mahshid’s video, and even tweeted it out!
