Rockettes’ Pick for Dancer of the Week: South African Filmmaker Showcases Unity Through Dance

Who: Strangers from all over the globe

Their dance:

Why we chose them: Dance has the power to unite people of all languages and cultures!

South African Filmmaker Miklas Manneke combined his love of travel with his desire to make other people smile with this “Passion Project.” While traveling the world for two years, Miklas asked strangers one simple question: Will you dance for me?

The two-minute video shows people off all nationalities and cultures showing off their best dance moves—from a New York subway platform to the streets of Paris.

“The world is in a place right now where there are so many things dividing us, be it boarders, languages or culture, there was something special about sharing that moment with people around the world when they danced,” he says. “Something that transcended geography.”

Fun Fact: Miklas wants to keep this going. All he needs from you is to upload a video of yourself dancing to Instagram and use the hashtag #KeepDancing.
