Who: Ricardo Walker and his crew
Why we chose them: We never get tired of seeing an awesome mashup of the King of Pop’s greatest song and dance hits—but this one is especially epic!
Led by Ricardo Walker, a Brazilian-born Michael Jackson tribute artist, these four dancers take us on a tour of some of MJ’s best moves and tunes. The journey starts in 1979, and makes pit stops in ’82 and ’87 before ending in ’91—complete with MJ-inspired costume changes.
Aside from the clean, tight choreography (seriously, they totally nailed the moonwalk!), fun lip-syncing and creative costumes, the coolest thing about this video just might be Ricardo’s background.
Imitating his idol since the age of five, Ricardo only danced as a hobby and didn’t perform publicly; but after Michael passed away in 2009, the then-15-year-old decided to make a dance tribute video.
The video went viral, and shortly thereafter the teen started working professionally as a Michael Jackson tribute artist, eventually pairing with an MJ-tribute singer and performing around the world.
Fun fact: In 2010, Walker joined Joe Jackson (MJ’s father) as he toured Brazil to promote Leonard Rowe’s book, What Really Happened to Michael Jackson, The King of Pop.
