Rockettes’ Pick for Dancer of the Week: MLB Players Dance Off During Rain Delay

Who: The Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago Cubs

Their dance:

Why we chose them:  Who says the NFL gets to have all the fun? This week, the MLB joined the pro-athlete dance-off craze with the Chicago Cubs facing off against the Arizona Diamondbacks during a rain delay!

When bad weather paused a game at Chicago’s Wrigley Field, the players in the bullpen (an area under the stadium’s bleachers, where the teams can see each other via TV monitors) decided to keep the competitive spirit alive.

The Diamondbacks threw out a dab, and the Cubs responded with… horse masks? A D-backs player then appeared hopping around with his uniform on upside-down, followed by his teammates launching into a very impressive bobsledding routine. Not to be outdone, two Cubs players performed the classic “fishing” move, to which the D-backs responded with a creative bowling charade (yep, one of the players acted as a bowling ball)!

And even though the Cubs eventually applauded, giving it up to the D-backs for their creativity, we think both teams get a tip of the cap for their efforts. As one Cubs player, Carl Edwards Jr., told the Chicago Tribune: “What should we do? Just sit there? Or we could have a dance-off.”

That’s one sports tradition we can definitely get behind!

Fun fact: This isn’t the Cubs’ first rodeo—or dance-off. The team’s been showing off their moves all season long!
