Rockettes’ Pick for Dancer of the Week: Law Student Stuck in Atlanta Airport Dances the Time Away

Who: Katie Gould

Her dance:

Why we picked her: “It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey.” You’ve definitely heard this expression before, and for airline passenger Katie Gould, she lived that phrase out to the fullest by making the most of her time in-between flights.

Last week, the law student missed her flight to Milwaukee due to longer than normal TSA lines at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (widely known as one of America’s busiest airports!). Rather than wait it out by shopping, dining or sitting anxiously at the gate, she decided to get up and dance the time away—and lucky for us, she recorded the whole thing.

The end result was a compilation video showcasing all of her best dance moves throughout various locations at the airport, set to the upbeat soundtrack of Hall and Oates’ “You Make My Dreams.” Her cat (and travel buddy), Bowie, even made an appearance in the video!

“I was pretty frustrated the whole day with missing my flight, but doing something fun and silly really helped remind me not to take life too seriously,” Katie told Travel + Leisure magazine.

And it seems like the Internet agreed and wanted to help make her dreams come true: The original video she posted on Twitter has nearly 9 million views!

Fun fact: Katie’s viral video even caught the attention of Hall & Oates! Their official Twitter account replied to her video, saying, “Impressive you can dance that long!”
