Rockettes’ Pick for Dancer of the Week: Father-Son Duo Dance to “Let It Go” in Matching Elsa Costumes
Who: Ørjan and Dexter Burøe
Why we picked them: This father and son really know how to Let It Go.
Ørjan and Dexter Burøe have swept away the internet, donning matching Elsa costumes and performing a passionate, feel-good dance to the hit song from Frozen. And we’re loving every second of it!
The father from Norway told CBS News, “[Dexter]’s just the biggest fan of Elsa at the moment… I thought maybe I should try to see it through his eyes.” So, being the fun-loving dad that he is, Ørjan ordered two blue Elsa dresses and a tiara for Dexter on eBay.
In the adorable video titled, “Mum is gone, no stress,” the pair lifts their arms up and out while spinning around their living room, simulating Elsa’s superpower of turning everything to ice instantly (four-year-old Dexter even stops his dad at one point to show him how to properly emulate Elsa’s movements).
The minute-long clip on Facebook has been ‘liked’ more than 77 million times, shared by nearly 1 million people and has received hundreds of thousands of positive comments. Singer Idina Menzel (who lent her voice to Elsa in the film) even shared her love for the video on Twitter.
“It’s important to teach children that you can do whatever you want to do and not put prejudice all over them,” Ørjan shared as the message he hopes others take away from this viral video.
Fun fact: When he’s not dancing with his son, Ørjan Burøe is a successful stand-up comic in Norway!
