Rockette Danelle’s Family Vacations to Support Her Performance Career
Working as a professional dancer, family vacations often take a backseat to performance opportunities. In the summer of 2007, I was cast in Ogunquit Playhouse’s The King & I. That year, my family took the opportunity to turn my job into a vacation for all of us and made the trip up to Ogunquit, Maine to see me perform in the production.
Ogunquit, Maine is a stunning vacation destination full of beautiful beaches, delicious lobster, and of course, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream! I would spend the day at the beach with my family and then go back to the theater and perform at night.
It’s truly so special to have a family who supports me and values the time we spend together. They often adapt their plans to show their support whenever and wherever I perform, and make a family vacation out of my career travels. My family has even made vacations out of the time I spent in the touring production of the Christmas Spectacular! Whether it’s in Chicago, St. Louis or a road trip to the Grand Canyon while performing in Phoenix, my family has been there with me every step of the way.
