6 Healthy (and Delicious!) Pumpkin Dishes to Try Today

Pumpkin pie. Pumpkin spice lattes. Pumpkin seeds. Been there, done that. Your current pumpkin go-tos are classics, but it’s time for a culinary change. From breakfast to peanut butter cups and everything in between, pumpkin is a trendy veggie for good reason: they’re packed with good-for-you nutrients. One cup of the orange gourd is home to more potassium than a banana, 200 percent of the daily-recommended intake of vitamin A, three grams of hunger-fighting fiber and only 49 calories.

Although we’re busy gearing up for the Christmas Spectacular, we’re digging these delicious fall-inspired dishes that are sure to be the belle of your dance studio (that is, if you’re willing to share!):

1. Pumpkin Peanut Butter Cups
pumpkin-peanut-butter-cupsBesides being a calorie bomb, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups contain a chemical preservative called Tertiary Butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), an additive to preserve processed foods. This homemade version with a delicious pumpkin twist cuts back on the junk and rocks only all-natural ingredients.

3. Pumpkin Pie Dessert Hummus

4. Pumpkin Pie Protein Shake
Post-dance training, protein is a must for muscle recovery. This protein-packed shake tastes like you put a piece of your grandma’s pumpkin pie in a blender and gave it a whirl. But unlike that pie, this sip-it-with-a-cute-straw-in-a-mason-jar-and-Instagram-it version won’t break the calorie bank.
