Who: Taylor Swift & Brendon Urie
Why we picked them: There’s no one quite like Taylor Swift and that’s why we love her!
At midnight, the pop star dropped her new single, “ME!” featuring Brendon Urie from Panic! At the Disco, after teasing her fans in a series of whimsical posts across social media. The photos are actually snippets from scenes in the music video, which, in addition to a duet with Brendon Urie, features everything from French dialogue to back-up dancers in pastel suits performing synchronized choreography (love it!). In the forefront are Swift and Urie portraying lovers, a mood that is a far cry from her 2017 album, Reputation.
“‘ME!’ is a song about embracing your individuality and really celebrating it and owning it,” Swift shared with ABC’s Robin Roberts on Thursday. “With a pop song, we have the ability to get a melody stuck in people’s heads. I just want it to be one that makes them feel better about themselves, not worse.”
Well, Taylor, mission accomplished!
Since midnight, the video has racked up close 30 million views on YouTube and counting.
Fun fact: If you’re wondering about the cat at the 2:12 mark, it’s Taylor’s! The singer shared a selfie with her new feline friend this morning, with the caption, “And then there were three…,” confirming a fan theory that the cat is in fact hers.
