Who: Freje Randall
Why we picked her: Getting your big break on stage is one thing, but getting it on stage at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards—a once in a lifetime opportunity.
17-year-old Freje Randall, helped Lizzo seamlessly transition from her opening performance of “Cuz I Love You” to “Truth Hurts” with a stunning ballet solo in front of millions—a moment all dancers dream about.
The opportunity arose earlier this month when Lizzo posted a video to Instagram calling for ballet dancers, and while the singer didn’t mention it was for her Grammy’s performance, she did have one request:
“I would like ballet dancers that look like me,” the singer shared. Lizzo is widely known as an advocate for body positivity and self-love.
Randall told her local news affiliate in Texas, she was encouraged to send Lizzo’s choreographer, a video of her pointe work and the next thing she knew, she received a DM from Lizzo’s team and was on a plane to Los Angeles, proving that dreams can come true overnight!
A few days out from the Grammy’s, Randall shared the good news to her Instagram feed:
Congratulations on your performance Freje!
