Behind the Scenes at the Fashion Studio With Emilio Sosa
While we’re busy rehearsing for the New York Spectacular, Emilio Sosa, our multi-talented costume designer, is busy at work designing one-of-a-kind costumes for our exciting summer production. The show is coming together in an incredible way, and we’re giving our fans a behind-the-scenes look at the fashion studio where there’s nothing but magic being created by Emilio and his team. Just take a peek for yourself:
“Emilio and I have the same mentality. We both love fashion and so we really work well together. We dream together. We’re like, ‘We could do this. What about that? What about this?’ It’s cool. We both have the same taste.” —Mia Michaels, Director & Choregorapher
Spoiler alert! There are aerialists in the New York Spectacular … just wait until you see this gorgeous number in person!
“When I design theatrical costumes, I want them to look like clothing, but they have to perform like costumes. What you have to take into account is that a costume is worn eight times a week and you’re washing and treating it eight times a week—you have to test the fabric before you even start the design process.” —Emilio Sosa
Whoever said fashion isn’t art, has never seen this avant-garde gem …
… or this one!
You’re right Emilio, very few can make paper look so chic.
“I cry tears of joy every time I see the Rockettes wearing my work. When you are responsible for what they look like … I can’t put that into words.” —Emilio Sosa
